How to earn and spend karats
Karats are Windlands' single in-game currency. They don't sit in your inventory — it's a number on your account, shown on screen. This guide covers where karats come from, where they go, and how to trade with other players.
Figures current as of 2026-09-24.
Where karats come from
- Spot mobs — the main source. Coins drop from every spot mob and are credited automatically as soon as you pick them up. The higher the mob's level, the more coins.
- Daily tasks — completing all three of the day's tasks gives a 5,000 bonus, and more for a streak of several days in a row.
- Achievements — a reward for each one.
- Selling items to other players on the auction house or through trading.
A new player starts with 200 karats.
You can't send karats to another player directly: only through a trade, the auction house, or buy orders. That's by design — it protects against scammers and "boosting" with someone else's hands.
Death and karats
On death you lose 8–17% of your balance. Half is destroyed forever, and the other half drops in a pile where you died, which anyone can pick up. Don't carry large sums into places where you're likely to die.
Vendors
City vendors sell goods at a fixed price, and they never run out. Walk up, right-click, pick an item, and click "BUY."
| Vendor | What they sell |
|---|---|
| Food, tavern | plain food and buff meals |
| Gear | starting-grade armor and weapons (NG and D) |
| Potion maker, alchemist | health and mana flasks, elixirs, scrolls |
| Scribe | protection scrolls for sharpening |
| Pet vendor | pet summon eggs (mule — 10,000, horse — 30,000) |
Auction house
There's one auction house for the whole server: a listing posted in one city shows up at every auctioneer. The window opens at the NPC auctioneer.
Tabs:
- Market — buy at a fixed price (no "highest bidder" auctions);
- Sell — list an item or part of a stack;
- My listings — what you've listed and sold;
- Orders — "buy X at price Y." If you have that item, you can sell it into the order in one click.
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Listings per player | up to 50 |
| Listing duration | 14 days, then the item can only be reclaimed |
| Sale fee | 5% |
| Orders per player | up to 20 |
Money from a sale arrives even if you weren't online.
Hand-to-hand trading
The /trade <nickname> command offers a trade to a nearby player. Each side puts items and karats into the window. The trade completes when both click "Confirm" and then the first player clicks "Trade!" If either side logs out, moves more than 8 blocks away, or closes the window, everything returns to its owner.
Tavern storage
The innkeeper offers personal storage: it survives death and is accessible from any tavern. Pages of 54 slots are bought with karats:
| Page | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | 500 | 1,250 | 2,000 | 2,750 | 3,500 | 4,250 | 5,000 | 5,750 |
Premium storage
A section of the settings board (O → "Premium Storage"). This is where the server puts rewards and anything that didn't fit in your inventory. It holds 999 slots, and nothing is ever lost. Grab an item by clicking it, or use "Take All."
