How to sharpen weapons
Sharpening boosts a weapon: at +11 it hits twice as hard. But from +5 on, there's risk, and without protection an item can break for good. Read this guide fully before your first risky attempt.

Where to sharpen
At the smith in town: walk up and right-click. The window has two slots, one for the item and one for a protection scroll, and a "SHARPEN" button. Forging takes a second and a half.
Every weapon can be sharpened: swords, daggers, dual blades, bows, and staves. On a bow, sharpening boosts arrows; on a staff, it boosts spells and a bit of healing.
Odds
| Sharpening | Success chance |
|---|---|
| +1 … +4 | 100% — no risk |
| +5 | 75% |
| +6 | 60% |
| +7 | 45% |
| +8 | 35% |
| +9 | 25% |
| +10 | 18% |
| +11 | 10% |
Damage grows with every sharpening level, and the last three levels give an especially large boost. At +11, a weapon deals ×2 its base damage.
If it fails
- Without a protection scroll, the item is destroyed. It can't be recovered.
- With a protection scroll, only the scroll burns — the item and its sharpening level survive.
The scribe in town sells protection scrolls.
Tips
- Sharpen freely up to +4: no risk.
- From +5 on, only sharpen with a protection scroll, or only sharpen an item you're fine with losing.
- Don't spend all your karats sharpening a low-tier item: you'll outgrow it soon.
- Free up inventory space before sharpening.
